ActionCOACH Ilminster presents… The Interview Series!

Over the next few weeks we will be interviewing local South West business owners, so that we can get to know both them and their businesses. In times like these we need to stick together!

This week we sat down with Jo from Justelle Marketing and Media Ltd.

Justelle Marketing and Media Ltd offer a strategic approach to promoting your business that involves researching and analysing your existing activities, identifying gaps and opportunities that may have previously been overlooked or dismissed. They will work with you and look at your customers and make sure they are the customers you really want and will research your competitors’ activities, so you win the potential customers not them!

We asked Jo to answer a few questions about herself and Justelle Marketing and Media Ltd. Take a look at what she had to say…

  1. Tell us about yourself and why you went into this business?

It’s a typical story, left a secure job to work for a client’s company and then they were taken over and shut down as part of a bigger project. I decided that I was sick of other people controlling my family’s destiny and was encouraged to set up on my own.  So, I bought my company name and within 1 week had 9 clients from my networking groups.  At first the work was diverse, a lot of admin, but whilst studying I built a reputation for common-sense marketing that actually worked (without the jargon).  I just want my clients to succeed – so that is why I do what I do the way I do it.  If they succeed so do I.  I am a Chartered Marketer, I have lived in this area all my life and believe very strongly that if you build the economy around you it will benefit all, I am the vice president of Yeovil Chamber of Trade and Commerce and spend about 10- 20% of my time doing voluntary work to improve the local business communications and opportunities.

  1. What has the Lockdown and Covid-19 taught you?

I already believed that you create your own destiny – Lockdown has proven that.  Setting up Open For Business virtual networking and remaining visible have been the best things. So many people hid or shut the doors to save money – I chose not to, even though it would have been easier and financially better – in the short term.  If you have the right attitude and determination, you can succeed despite a global pandemic.  I have also learnt that EVERY businessperson has been feeling the same and that we are not alone!

  1. What if anything will you do differently post Lockdown?

I will keep my virtual networks running and have adjusted my business plans to accommodate more virtual activities and workshops.  I have also secured some more consultancy works and content writing work.  Both of which can happen in a virtual setting if needed.

  1. What is your favourite quote?

“Ability is what you are capable of doing. Motivation determines what you do. Attitude determines how well you do it.” – Unknown
