ActionCOACH Ilminster presents… The Interview Series!
Over the next few weeks we will be interviewing local South West business owners, so that we can get to know both them and their businesses. In times like these we need to stick together!
This week we sat down with Peter Jenkins from Ceres Natural Foods.
“Ceres Natural Foods is an independent health food shop.
Our mission and ethos is: To empower those we reach to attain and maintain exceptional health and well being.
Meaning we are not just a shop, but a community and way of life. Giving people the knowledge and advice to overcome dietary problems and helping everyone have a healthier future in an affordable manner. We have received many compliments from our loyal customers on how kind and helpful our staff are and how welcomed they feel, we give our time to support those who have questions and look to us for answers and understanding.”
We asked Peter a few questions about himself and his business and here is what he had to say…
- Tell us about yourself and why you went into this business?
In 1978 I stopped chasing a career and decided to make a difference and do something healthy. Through pioneering good food and nutrition, ethical business focus and putting people first – forty years later and I think I’ve made a difference.
- What has the Lockdown and Covid-19 taught you?
Never take anything for granted. Never have debt (unless there is an achievable end to it insight). Always value people (customers and staff). Always keep on keeping on!
- What if anything will you do differently post Lockdown?
Everything and nothing. Going to investigate every aspect of the business to find the best way forward. Going to try and let the staff do more and rely on me less.
- What is your favourite quote?
“Start where you are, use what you have, do what you can, don’t stop until you’re proud” – Unknown
