- Live in the possibility. Life is an endless stream of possibility, look out for it and when it comes your way grab onto it and make it YOURS! Live in the present, focus on what is in front of you, and see the possibilities.
- Always question what you do and why you do it. You went into business because you had a vision and a goal. Keep yourself in tune with the what and the why when it comes to your business. Focus on what drives you, find that “day one” passion.
- Challenge long-held beliefs. Look back at 20 years ago, even 10 years ago – were the same principles used then as they are today? Chances are they were not. Step outside of your traditions when the challenge presents itself, keep moving and adapting with the times
- Don’t accept the first solution right away. When a problem presents itself to you, do you get just one solution? Solutions are plentiful, so don’t jump at the first one that comes your way, assess each one and make a calculated decision that works for YOU!
- You can’t learn less! You have to learn more to earn more. Make sure you keep yourself open and willing to learning, do not become “unteachable”. “Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty.” —Henry Ford
- Have fun. Ideas and brainstorming sessions can be fun, if you allow them to be! You will be amazed at the productivity level of your team and yourself when you relax on the stringent settings, and leave room for creativity and ideas. Schedule regular brainstorming sessions and practice green-light thinking.
- Get around people in different industries. Challenge yourself to step outside of your regular circle of confidants. Get differing viewpoints from people in a variety of industries and you’ll be amazed at the results!
- Challenge your team to look deeper. The key to a successful team is a healthy dose of challenges. Let them know that they CAN do a task and they CAN achieve the goal if they put their heads together and focus on the project at hand. Keep them motivated!
- Make sure you have adequate ‘moodling’ time—time to do nothing. Take some TIME! Make sure you are getting sufficient downtime for your brain to revitalise. You will be surprised with the ideas and willpower that follows.
- Charge your subconscious. Give your mind something to work on while you sleep. Select a problem you want solved, a process you would like improved or a new product you would like to create before going to bed and then forget about it. Tell yourself you want at least three elegant ideas by the next day and then expect to receive them. Trust that it works!
So… which point will you follow today?
