Whether you’re a business owner or an employee, productivity is the key for success.

These are unprecedented times we are living in, however with the recent re-opening plan, the UK is set to fight the challenges of this virus, and start to re-build, re-invent and re-open. And this begs the all-important question… is your business ready for this re-opening?

They key to building a new plan, is to have a top tier productivity check-list for you and your team. We have conducted 5 Action tips for productivity:

Action Tip # One: Create a to-do List

“Until we can manage time, we can manage nothing else.” – Peter Drucker

Creating a to-do list is more than just merely writing a list. With this to-do list, make sure you list ALL of the tasks that your business needs to tackle in time to re-open. Organise these tasks in order of priority, what is the more important tasks to tackle? And then work your way down. With this order of priority, ensure that you are setting realistic deadlines for each. Whether you prefer a digital or hand-written to-do list, make sure you are able to take the list with you, so that you can continuously add to the list when necessary. This will give you structure, and a plan to stick to!

Action Tip # Two: Remove Distractions

“Work is hard. Distractions are plentiful. And time is short.” – Adam Hochschild

Distractions are often hard to ignore, because there are so many that pop up in our day-to-day lives. Productivity requires for us to ignore those distractions, and set healthy boundaries so that we can give our work our all. Today we find ourselves distracted by the news, by our social media pages and by working from home. Removing distractions while you work from home can be tricky, but it can be done. Create an environment that is similar to that of your regular work space, after all, we expect to be back there soon! So, put down your mobile phone, silence your devices when working on a task, and give the project you’re working on your all. In order to stay focused, you need to get rid of distractions!

Action Tip # Three: Remind yourself of the “Why” behind your business

“The great accomplishments of man have resulted from the transmission of ideas of enthusiasm.” Thomas J. Watson

A colleague once said: “A big enough why trumps any how” – and that has really stuck! Why did you go into business? Why was that the business you went in to? Remind yourself of the why, and you will see the ease of the how. Motivate yourself, and motivate others frequently. Your team is relying on you to keep positive, keep motivated and SHOW them that your business is going to be moving forward, and that you have a plan to do that. Motivation is key to productivity, the way we tackle tasks, and our psyche’s behind that, ultimately determine how well and how much effort we put into those tasks. Whatever you do, there are multiple people who are better off because of your company. The more you and your team think about this, the bigger the impact on your productivity levels.

Action Tip # Four: Take Breaks

“When one has much to put into them, a day has a hundred pockets.” – Friedrich Nietzsche

Efficiency is determined largely by our physical and mental ability to perform a task. There IS enough time in a day, and by following the above mentioned tips, you will see that there is also time for a break. This is true for both you and your team. There is a mounding load of pressure due to the virus, people are worried and that fear of the unknown can make performing for lengthily hours challenging. So, take a break, re-group, and make sure that you are looking after your physical and mental self. Sleep, eat and exercise right, because as Friedrich Nietzsche says… a day has a hundred pockets, what will you fill them with?

Action Tip # Five: Use a Learning Management System

“Action is the foundational key to all success.” – Picasso

You’ve heard us say this a few times, and we stand by it… you need to learn to earn! Successful and productive people never stop learning. There is much to be taught now, and for you to be learning for yourself and your business. Times are changing quickly, and we need to be able to adapt to whatever is thrown at us. A sure way of achieving this is by being open-minded and willing, learn something everyday! Set aside one of your 100 time pockets for a bit of learning. Here is a great resource for just that.
