ActionCOACH Ilminster presents… The Interview Series!

Over the next few weeks we will be interviewing local South West business owners, so that we can get to know both them and their businesses. In times like these we need to stick together!

This week we sat down with Durgan Cooper from Cetsat Technology.

CETSAT is a tactical business partner for companies who wish to achieve more through a methodical approach to their technology. They deliver outstanding knowledge in an agile way across their three core areas of excellence: Infrastructure, Digital Media and Cyber Security.

We asked Durgan to answer a few questions about himself and his position at Cetsat Technology and here’s what he had to say”

  1. Tell us about yourself and why you went into this business?

I grew up in a family where my father was self-employed, we often did not see him during the week due to the long hours he worked and that instilled a good work ethic to my siblings and me. My parents ran a number of businesses, so it was always in my blood although I had not set out to start one and fell into it when an tech company employer relocated the business and clients wanted me to stay with them; this at a time when the Internet was just starting to become available to SME’s.

  1. What has the Lockdown and Covid-19 taught you?

I have learnt that we all need to be better at communicating. Everything seems to take so much longer and being to the point and concise assist with productivity. It has been great for team spirit however, obviously we have been unable to socialise and see each other in person, but we have increased communication with our colleagues and I do hope that everyone has benefited from this.

  1. What if anything will you do differently post Lockdown?

I think that the recruiting and sales processes will change with more emphasis being made on filtering and less site visits. We have successfully taken on both new staff and clients during the lockdown and its been pretty successful performing this remotely.

  1. What is your favourite quote?

My favourite quote is quite important to me personally and it is something which I have been attempting to impress upon my colleagues for some years. It feels like it has never been as important as it is at the current time, it is “do the right thing, on a bad day, when no one is looking”.
